Welp several people have informed me that sunday would work out better for them and it IS infact my real bday that day so thangs are moved to the 22nd of ZE NOVEMERTRON. (that's sunday in evan'ish)

Alright so heres the formalish(lol) announcementy thing for birthday stuff this weekend.

I plan to have a fun greenbelty hike/picnic on saturday Sunday** probably starting around 1-2
I can however move this to sunday if this day doesn't work for alot of people.

Do: bring yourself!, anyone else you want, outdoor clothes(crappy shoes are good here), maybe something you can wade in depending on the weather, AMINALS!, frisbys etc, blanket to sit on if you want, any other outdoorsy stuff you might want to bring, weather appropriate clothing.

Don't: bring gifts(All I want for my bday is to be surrounded by friends), nice clothes


RSVP would be cool so I know how much food to cook, but if you don't get a chance to get ahold of me/don't know till the last minute thats cool too. ;P

Welp I get my first paycheck this coming tuesday and I am highly looking forward to it! It's the small victories that count! Anyhoo this is very highly exciting to me cause it means I can finally afford to start going to this figure drawing meetup group I've been putting off for months and I can hopefully get started drawing again. I have been very very distracted by my guitar in my limited free time and haven't done all the much drawing the last few weeks. I am really excited about it though cause me and brian actually got a good bit of a song together last night with some fun finger picking guitar harmonies that are stupidly fun to play. ^_____~
Oh harmonies, you are such a cheesy fun way to make things sound cool.

I did however find a totally bad ass lighting/color tutorial that spans more than just painting and is really good info for pretty much every type of visual art imo. It spells things out well and explains them in a way that's not overly complicated yet still gets the neat and important details across. The coolest thing I learned was the various colors of lightbulbs. I had never noticed that most household bulbs are yellow light and not white which has a rather profound impact on lighting. Florescent light is actually green(think matrix movie filter differences between real life and VR). Anyhoo I'm a big dork and this is prolly really obvious to most of you but I thought it was really really cool. Kinda reminded me that I have been slacking on the drawing, which is why I was reminded of how I can actually start going to the meetup group stuff I signed up for. Anyhoo for anyone interested CLICKY HUR.

Anyhoo as far as next weekend I think I'm just gonna throw together a picnic thing somewhere on saturday or sunday and cook everyone some good food to eat! Come by if you get a chance. ;P

I'm still planning a camping trip but I wanna give alot more notice/planning etc so it doesn't suck. (if you guys know when a good time/if your innarstad let meh know)

I know its not at all a new thing but I've been rather infatuated with the idea lately. Perhaps its just a part of settling in to a customer service job, perhaps I just like people more than I used to who knows...

Anyhoo the whole chain reaction that can start with just one person doing something cool has preoccupied my thoughts alot lately. Its more than just going the extra mile for the asshole customer at work though. And it makes me happy that im not doing it just to make subway look good or whatever but of my own volition to make someones shitty grumpy day just a little less crappy.
I still get hella annoyed at people of course but I GOTTA BREAK THE CHAIN YAH KNOW! Paying it forward goes both ways.

I would like to do something of a slightly larger scope then just being nice at work though.
I haven't though of what yet and if you know me it will have to be something really random and off the wall... but I want to do something really cool.

One thought I had was baking a ton of cookies(I LOVE BAKING COOKIES AS YOU KNOW) and just passing them out at school two at a time and telling them give one of the cookies to someone else. Sadly people are often not trusting enough to take food from random strangers and rightfully so I suppose but ... meh its cool in theory at least

I found myself feeling a little nostalgic about my highschool days this morning. There were of course many shitty things about it too but all the bullshit kinda brought everyone together. Unlike middle school most people had enough freedom to move about outside of school hours but we were tied together during them and there were familiar faces every single day. It is not so anymore as everyone has fully left the nest and gone off to what ever corner of the world/life they choose. There is no tether bringing us all together daily anymore and I think thats what I miss the most. A group of people I will get to hang out with everyday rain or shine and conquer obstacles with. I think I miss having a more regular strictly scheduled day as well.

I remember hating marching season but I can't say I regret being in band because going through hell every morning with close friends was actually kinda nice in retrospect. Everyone seems more distant these days and I miss our old group, when EVERYONE got together more often and we were all a bit more innocent. Things seem so complicated now its a bit frustrating at times. I was alot dorkier and stuff back then but I was also alot more carefree so I sometimes wish I could be that super nerdy highschool kid that was proud of being that way.

I think part of what brought this about is my reading of the second Dune book Messiah. Paul and many of his old compatriots friendships have devolved or changed drastically and many including Paul miss the old simpler times and ways despite having been bullied by the harkonnens etc this is part of what brought them together in the first place. He is also haunted by some various cutthroat decisions he has made in the past and will need to make in the future. Now I'll stop here to avoid spoilerificness but I really have felt a bit of a connection to him in this book.

I still have no freaking idea what to dress up as this halloween cause I'll be damned if I stay home this year. I can't do the luffy thing cause I don't wanna be an anime dork around the normals. >.>

I was thinking maybe cobbling together a dalek costume with some cardboard and spray paint or something. EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE This will probably end up being very unweildy though and I would prefer to avoid large amounts of that while drinking.

So I could really use some help/thoughts on this sucker. I did a quick rough color fill in to see how things look while keeping in mind all the advice I've been reading. To those of you who have a better color eye than me(thats like everyone >.>) I would love some critiquery. :)

I'm climbing the mount everest called color this week and I need help. Todays experiment stems from

"The shadow of an object will also contain its complementary color, for example the shadow of a green apple will contain some red."

I do know that the shadow is going the wrong direction compared to the highlight I am focused on picking proper colors with this experiment, also the jpeg fucked up the colors enough it might not even help to have this version looked at... ANYHOO I NEED SOME HALP! I have been terrified of colors for years and its time for me to get over it.

Welp i'll give win7 one thing my tablet runs smooth again unlike in vista so I had a bit of fun tonight after slaving away on some game art that I'm not good at yet. (brian wants me to make sprites for a top down bolo clone) I finally got tired and frustrated and decided to make a brush that works like charcoal cause its easy to work with but I also like sharpies for the big darks so I went about trying my hand at brush making... here are the results(excuse the noob colors I didn't wanna think very hard)



anyhoo, theres a couple versions of this including an animated one but im still playing around with the heart beats so I might toss a more refined version up later but I need a break from looking at it for now SO YOU GET TO LOOK AT IT INSTEAD!

LUFFY!! Yes thats right... I am a rather huge Onepiece fan and I think I could cobble together a pretty darn good luffy costume for this halloween!\

I think the only thing I need help with is sewing together the red vest I have pretty much all of the rest of it.

Man... its days like yesterday that make me remember why its worth it to wake up every morning.
There was a conversation in Trainspotting about how theres like an irish past time of going out on a nature romp to clear your head that I was reminded of thinking back about yesterday.

Anyhoo.. I should prolly tell the story or something right? ;P

So after getting all my morning rituals and stuff done(3pm still counts as morning right? >.>) I head over to abe/erica/dragu land to pic up the cat-dog(and now mountain goat). Dragu of course gets home with impeccable timing and joins the party and we depart for the bull-creek place that i've been blathering on about for the past 2 weeks.

When we get there the low water crossing is flooded so we can't get to the trail side of the park but being smarter than the average bear, we don't let that stop us and start going around the other side of the creek. There was this ginormous rock that we climbed up and much to our surprise dax was able to follow...only running near vertically up the most shear edge like a spiderman-mountain goat fusion-ha! Yes... we have pictures. >:D This being not near enough to quell the adventurous spirit, we continued on and finally hit a dead end at the big waterfall drop off pool thing. Dragu however used ninja magic to find a hidden path around the water crossing (this required several ninja flips mind you). AND THUS BEGAN OUR EPIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE WOODS!

We found a good trail and were able to follow it beside the creek bed through all kinds of fun naturey stoof and finally came upon A BABY SNAPPING TURTLE!(moar pictures here as well!) Unfortunately dragus ninjaphone is no longer equipped with zoom materia so we had to get super close. We continued on and found a giant chasm of mud and not wanting dax to be covered in said mud I carried her across hopping from rock to rock labyrinth style(suck it goblin king). A bit of a way past this Brennsephiroth calls down Aquaga err.. I mean flashflood warning on us and we decide to vacate rather hastily. Driving back we hit the 5:00 traffic head on but twas all good as there was a delicious amy's pizza and cookie oasis waiting for us at the eden residence(ty dragu!). After regaining all health and mana the flash flood summoned Ultimashark via a cell phone. APPARENTLY THERE WERE ROBOTS HOSTING AN EVIL TECHNO DANCE PARTY!! OMG BEAR IS DRIVING HOW CAN THIS BE?

*ahem*..

Anyhoo the ultimashark residence includes dark secrets guarded by raven dragu marie ultimashark and myself. Of these dark secrets we discovered that the only way to vanquish loud frat parties was through the grouse mating dance! After vanquishing at least 5 of the foul things they finally dropped a hero-guiness-drink which allowed me to complete my ultimate headstall hackysack technique!

After which I returned home, read waaaaaay too much One Piece manga and passed the hell out!

Welp, I am in charge of entertaining the Dax for the next 4 days and I found a few good greenbelt trails I would like to go explorerizing! I'm planning on going to the bull-creek trail tomorrow after class sometime if anyone would like to join me for a short 2ish mile hike. I also have some porkchops and stuff to grill and I hope to get a bit of a picnic/bbq thang together sometime in the near future.

In other news, I finally got my room and car cleaned out in a fit of being useful this morning. Home is finally starting to feel a bit more like home again. I would like to get some posters and stuff up though I need to go dig them out of storage etc and see whats still usable.

My classes are finally starting to get a bit more difficult finally. It's all fairly interesting stuff too and I am proud of myself for actually putting some study time in most days this last week. My comp forensics class so far has gone super super super in-depth on how hard drives are organized and the whole boot process. Most all of it last class was stuff I had never even touched on before so I have alot of study work ahead of me to stay on top of things. For instance I have to know things like sector 55AA is the end of the bootsector of a hard drive and all sorts of super specific but important things. I can tell if I put some work in though I will get alot out of this class so its keeping my attention pretty well atm.

Last of all but not least, I am having the first nice sit-down dinner with my folks in probably 10 years and following that a nice relaxing evening at home. I'll be doing the cooking though its probably just gonna be some pasta and stuff, I cant wait! ^_^

Welp, yay academic alliance this year has the big shiney expensive version of windows 7! I cannot wait! Both my classes so far have also turned out to be pretty cool as well so things are good on that front though I hope the labs get a bit more in-depth soon as so far they only have taken me like 5 mins being of the intro variety.

Of all places fucking unisys called me back again yesterday with a shift available but it was 5am-1pm which I would have taken had it not conflicted with my morning class. Freebirds is hiring though so I put an app in there and conans today also did another round of temp agency apps.

So my entire neighborhood is full of asplundah tree trimming trucks going around and cutting stuff up. There are entire sides of the road blocked off and crazy dudes in my backyard atm. Its not just my street though, driving home they are EVERYWHERE! I guess the city sponsers this crap or something every few years to keep branches off the power lines and roadways. They are also taking down the dead tree in my back yard and I keep hearing the giant logs crash down... its a little crazy here atm... >.>

Anyhoo, time to escape to the land of Abe and Erica for the making of mead with E + Marie (THATS A RHYME YOU SEE DON'T BLAME ME...GEEEE)

I noticed that I repeatedly say to myself and others, I should do this, I should do that, I should feel this...

*Should* is not an acceptable substitute for *do* and goddamn it I need to learn that.
Now the hard part really is acting on all or even some of those shoulds and turning them into dones...

The feelings part of *should* is even harder because it is infinitely more shades of grey and it often conflicts with itself. I will feel how I'm gonna feel about things and I can't change that can I? Yet at the same time I should not get mad at the small things, I should not be clingy of the past and every other *should not* out there that applies. How does one accept the way they feel about things and go about altering their world view for the better at the same time?

It's a bit overwhelming to think about.

In other news my igoogle random art display thing came up with something pretty cool this morning.

So my first class of the week (wireless lans) was a bit of a bust for various reasons. It is chock full of fresh out of highschool idiots that heckled the teacher for one. I wanted to slap this one guy by the end of it for speaking up with inane unrelated and downright offensive questions to the teacher ever 10 sentences. On top of that the material covered so far is incredibly dull and review'ish which I suppose is to be expected of semi entry level course I skipped for a long time. This as you could imagine had me down a bit as I was very hotly anticipating school this year. Welp where there is dark there is also light.. my other class this semester....

IS TOTALLY FUCKING BAD ASS OFF THE HOOK AWESOME!!!

The teacher is incredibly charismatic and very very very knowledgeable on top of being totally hilarious. He is the former APD network admin/security guy and is a super cool guy to boot. The awesome doesn't stop there however...

He went over the stuff we would be doing in class and I couldn't be more pumped than I am right now.

We get to play with $5000 professional data recovery hardware and software ie... we will be zeroing out a hard drive 5 times and then getting all the data off it as well as hiding ninja things in the slackspace of the drives as well as all kinds of other badassery ninja tricks.

This is gonna look sooooo freaking good on my resume and is EXACTLY the kind of stuff I signed up for this major to learn to do.

All in all... no matter how lame this wireless lans class is... this is gonna be one awesome semester!

Well last night was pretty sweet! I went out to my friend AJ's show which was really really good. Hes gone from awesome to wicked googly sick since highschool. It was a bong cello acoustic(aj) thing and I was really impressed. After that the whole crew went over to stefs place from much drunken revelry and swimming in her pool! Man they are alllll wow nerds and it made me miss wow even less >.>. Mostly talked to rory while we were there and in between my drunken antics started formulating up some comic ideas with him. I need a few good art outlets and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of it. Anyhoo, all in all a pretty cool friday night though I'm paying for it this morning.

So what is everybody up too this weekend? I would like to possibly partake in the watching of robots or some barton springs goodness. ^_^

5. Finally start unpacking from my move. (yes this is like 2 months late so sue me...)

In other news I DONE BUZZED MAH HEAD! It's not super super buzzed but its quite a change. I am rather happy with it, especially after my run this morning. My head is sooo much cooler now and the sweat doesn't get in my eyes anymore! Pie making + head shaving = combo

After that I headed over to Sir Alex of Thomas's residence and played more of that sploding man game then we tried out the Batman: Arkam Asylum game... OH EM GEEEE...

First of all the art/models animation stuff looks AMAZING like straight out of the comic (<3 unreal engine). But what really got me was all the crazy stuff you could do. It was very much about stealth which I appreciated you get the batarang a zipline to spiderman your silly batness around but thats just your bread and butter right there. My favorite part was the crazy huge amount of ways you can take people out. You can hang upside down from the ceiling and climb down your zip line and grab them up into your cape from above. Another favorite was the gliding tackle take down. You like glide across the room and silently smash into them. There was also copious amounts of batarang sniping. The game plays a bit like metal gear solid actually with flashier take downs and a decent beatemup system if you wanna just brute force things(though less effective and not as fun) Theres kinda an alert level similar to MGS and it rewards you for being sneakier with your take downs. You drop you alert by running away and hiding in the ceiling or whatever other sneaky dark places you can ninja your way into. Did I mention the art stuff in the game is awesome? IT IS. The voices of joker and batman are from the animated series as well. YES THATS RIGHT THEY HAVE MARK HAMMIL DOING JOKER!!!!!
Now... if someone could please obtain a Bridgette and show her this game to make things right in the world.

OH I almost forgot my favorite take down. You can sneak up behind them and tap them on the shoulder and punch them in the face when they turn around.

I ALSO DISCOVERED WHY BATMAN IS SO GOOD... HE CHEATS WITH WALL HACKS. I'm not even joking he has xray vision in his mask in this game.

I was browsing through meetup.com the other day hoping to find a hackysack meetup group but there are none in the austin area which was a bit of a disappointment. Does anyone know how starting a group on there works like etiquette wise? Do I need to have a certain number of people together and playing before starting one?
